A locally designated historic village home has been added to the National Register of Historic Places: the Daniel and Minerva DeLand House and Barn located at 185 N. Main Street.
The property meet the criteria for designation because of the signficant contribution of the DeLand family to Fairport and its' distintive Italianate festures.
Agnes Sproul - Milliner
Millinery was a lifelong passion of Miss Agnes Sproul. She learned the business from Mrs. William B. Bly and purchased her millinery business in 1884.
Advertisements of Sproul’s “Charming Millinery” in local newspapers include a variety of hats and garments, including pattern hats, untrimmed hats, ready-to-wear hats, Paris style hats, bonnets, infant’s muslin bonnets, two-to-seven gore walking skirts, and corsets.
