Filkins - Howes House
The Preservation Commission recognized the importance of the home at 164 S. Main to the village by designating it a local landmark.
It is named for George S. Filkins who built the house in 1875 along with many others in the village during that era.
Michael Keene, local author and frequent speaker at the Society, has created a unique online program based on his book, “Madhouse”.
His program explores the history of “Insane Asylums” established in NYS during the 19th-Century.
Join us for this virtual program Dec. 1 at 11 a.m.
The Museum has closed for the season and will reopen Saturday, March 6, 2021.
