Yuletide Traditions -
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Yuletide Traditions, the annual Society fundraiser, was back for its seventh season. During this three-week event, gift cards and gift baskets that had been donated to the Society from individuals, organizations and businesses were placed in silent auctions.
Visitors viewed and bid on the items during regular museum hours. All proceeds benefited the Society.
This year’s event took place from November 15th through December 6th. Final bids were accepted up until the holiday party on Tuesday, December 6th. Winners were notified following that evening’s program.
The event has raised more than $14,000 in its first seven years. Thank you to our donors, special event attendees and bidders!

Fundraising 2021:
Annual Yuletide Traditions was Back!
The 2021 PHS fundraiser, Yuletide Traditions, was back! Once again individuals and businesses were invited to participate in a festive silent auction and other events. The Grinch was not hosting this event, but Yuletide Traditions looked a bit different this year– because of the pandemic and because of trends the committee has noticed since the inception of this event in 2014.
Donated Baskets or Gift Cards
Individuals and businesses donated baskets and gift cards. We have certainly appreciated and have been awed by the creativity and artistic talent of many who have made festive items. However, because we have many members downsizing, we are suggested that trees and wreaths, not be donated.
Baskets of all sorts and sizes were appreciated–for entertaining, wine lovers, young readers, crafty kids, canine and feline friends, gardeners and many other themes. Gift cards were also been popular, some receiving bids two and three times their value. Monetary donations are welcome as well.
Events Planned
Several programs and events were offered. Because of the pandemic, seating was more spaced out than in the past. We’re fortunate to have had Bill Poray speak at the kickoff on November 16th, with a presentation about the history of the Potter Family and Potter Memorial.
Several events were planned, one festive addition to the mix was an ugly sweater contest. Participants were encouraged to stop by the museum for a quick photo or invited to submit their own photo. Voting will took place for the best ugly holiday sweater in several categories.
Just one example of a wonderful gift basket, "Cook Up a Storm", donated by Cook's World. See our Facebook page for more items to bid on or come in during open hours!
Refreshments were wrapped items and bottled water, but we certainly missed sharing cheese and cracker trays and unique homemade treats.
We look forward to you joining us again next year for Yuletide Traditions. The Grinch will not be invited!

Third Annual Yuletide Traditions - a Fun Fundraiser!
Once again, the Society was overwhelmed by the generous support of the community, including the many members who donated and/or bid on the beautiful array of trees, wreaths, baskets, certificates, and other unique items in our annual Yuletide Traditions event. The Society successfully hosted a variety of programs and festive events for several hundred people – and raised over $2,100.
Unique to this year’s mix of items were 16 Swedish Cookie trees created by Joyce Lyle and her son, Jamie, and by Jolene and Fred Smith. The trees and ginger cookies are part of the Swedish celebration of the Christmas holiday, which runs throughout December until St. Knut’s Day, January 13, when the trees are taken down and the cookies eaten.
